FAQs

What does a physical therapist do?

It is a common misconception that PTs simply have you complete exercises or do massage. Physical therapists are experts in human movement and have spent countless hours in the cadaver lab learning all the bones, joints, muscles, muscle attachments and nerves. The hands-on therapy helps relieve tightness and promote healing and the exercises ensure more efficient movement patterns to keep the pain or limitation from recurring. The highly personalized combination of manual techniques and exercises is truly an art!

Do I need a referral or prescription?

Minnesota is a direct access state, meaning that you do not need a referral for physical therapy services. If you are planning to submit the bill for out-of-network reimbursement, some insurance companies do require a referral or signed plan of care. Please contact your insurance company directly to discuss this further.

What should I wear?

It will be helpful to easily expose the area that is troubling you, so wearing tank tops, shorts, and/or looser fitting attire is recommended. A sheet and towels will be provided for maximum modesty.

Why mobile? Wouldn't I benefit from more equipment?

Being mobile physical therapy practice allows for the treatment to occur in the convenience of your own home or gym. We have all the equipment that you will be using for your home exercise program right there!  Therabands or exercise bands are an easy, space-saving way to add variable resistance to movements and will be provided when appropriate. In addition, there are many ways to add challenge to an exercise and that is exactly what Dr. Brenna excels at, being creative and thinking on her feet!

If mobile isn't for you, Physio Strong has a space within the Le Sueur Community Center!

Why should I pay cash for PT when I can go somewhere that accepts my insurance?

The short answer? Time, quality of care, and value.

Being cash-based means the provider spends less time on the computer and more time focused on you. This leads to more effective treatments, reducing the number of sessions and the time you spend away from your play. Being out-of-network allows us to participate in preventative and maintenance care, services that are not typically covered by insurance.

With the trend towards increasing  co-pays and deductibles (average deductible is $1,200 for therapy services, but some patients have been $8,000!) it is often cheaper to pay a flat rate for PT.

Being cash-pay also eliminates the need for a referral, which means we can see you sooner and get you back to what you love!
